John Inverdale introduces live coverage of the traditional curtain-raiser ahead of the eighth staging of the Rugby World Cup, which takes place at Twickenham. A performance with the theme of ‘Breaking New Ground’ retells the history of the sport from the very beginning, including the fateful moment at Rugby School in 1823 when William Webb Ellis quite literally picked up the ball and ran with it.
