Win­ning re­turn for Macc Ladies

MAC­CLES­FIELD Ladies en­joyed a 6-1 vic­tory against Northop Hall in their first league game on the as­tro turf at Kings.

The ladies be­gan with great ef­fort and de­ter­mi­na­tion from the start, an early goal from cap­tain Claire Bar­low com­ing at the end of a well con­structed short cor­ner.

Soon af­ter, Mac­cles­field won a sec­ond short cor­ner which took the score to 2-0 as An­gela Duffy took a strike which was tapped over the line by Emma Houghton.

The pass­ing con­tin­ued to be strong and ac­cu­rate from the home side as Northop Hall were put un­der more pres­sure.

Yet another short cor­ner was given which then brought the score to 3-0 at the end of the first half with a strong strike from An­gela Duffy.

The sec­ond half saw Northop Hall put more pres­sure on Mac­cles­field which led to a quick goal 10 min­utes into the pe­riod.

Mac­cles­field, how­ever, con­tin­ued to up the in­ten­sity and showed com­plete com­mitt­ment to win­ning the game.

The next two goals then came from Sarah Duffy who se­cured Mac­cles­field a 5-1 lead af­ter some great work down the wings.

Af­ter some fine um­pir­ing from Craig Roberts, a fi­nal goal for Mac­cles­field was given as Bar­low fought hard to get it in the back of the net.

Over­all, the per­for­mance from Mac­cles­field was out­stand­ing as the team worked to­gether to win in their first leauge game back.

Player’s player was awarded to Anna Han­son and Northop Hall awarded man of the match to cap­tain Claire Bar­low.
