Winning return for Macc Ladies
MACCLESFIELD Ladies enjoyed a 6-1 victory against Northop Hall in their first league game on the astro turf at Kings.
The ladies began with great effort and determination from the start, an early goal from captain Claire Barlow coming at the end of a well constructed short corner.
Soon after, Macclesfield won a second short corner which took the score to 2-0 as Angela Duffy took a strike which was tapped over the line by Emma Houghton.
The passing continued to be strong and accurate from the home side as Northop Hall were put under more pressure.
Yet another short corner was given which then brought the score to 3-0 at the end of the first half with a strong strike from Angela Duffy.
The second half saw Northop Hall put more pressure on Macclesfield which led to a quick goal 10 minutes into the period.
Macclesfield, however, continued to up the intensity and showed complete committment to winning the game.
The next two goals then came from Sarah Duffy who secured Macclesfield a 5-1 lead after some great work down the wings.
After some fine umpiring from Craig Roberts, a final goal for Macclesfield was given as Barlow fought hard to get it in the back of the net.
Overall, the performance from Macclesfield was outstanding as the team worked together to win in their first leauge game back.
