Skies light up at bonfire events across the town

HUNDREDS donned their wellies to see Macclesfield’s skies light up at the host of bonfires over the weekend.

At Prestbury Golf Club, visitors were treated to a ‘phenomenal’ professional firework display and a selection of tempting food from the club’s new chef Richard Howden.

Bonfire goers at the Tytherington Club’s event on Thursday enjoyed a fireworks extravaganza from Lightech. Alex Nock, general manager of the club, said: “Luckily the weather held off to ensure another great Bonfire Night at The Tytherington Club.

“A big thanks to all the staff, Silk FM and Lightech for the spectacular firework display.

“We’re already looking forward to next year!”

The Church House Inn, Sutton, put on fireworks, a singer and DJ to get everyone in the party mood. Shirley Malley, landlady, said: “Everyone had a great time and luckily the rain held off for the fireworks, which were terrific.”

Other bonfires where families had a blast were at Macclesfield Cricket Club, Henbury Millennium Green and Poynton Park. Kerridge Cricket Club and Pott Shrigley cricket field also saw their own piece of the action.
