Popular quiz nights raise thousands
QUIZ organisers came up with all the right answers by raising £5,300 for East Cheshire Hospice this year.
Three quizzes at Tytherington High School and Marlborough Primary School were supported by local businesses, including Arighi Bianchi, Boots, Bridge Hotel Prestbury, Clonter Opera, Gawsworth Hall, Sophie Lou Beauty, The Rustic Coffee Company and Waterstones.
The quiz committee is made up of Paul Morrissey, vice chairman of the charity’s trustees, long-time supporter and Sunflower Centre volunteer Alison Brammar and Mark Watson, who helps organise the popular Macclesfield Pub Quiz League which has just begun a new season.
Storm Brewing provide the drinks at quizzes and hospice caterers make the supper, with cakes baked by volunteers.
Hospice fundraiser Lisa Ball said: “Everyone loves the quizzes, which have become a firm fixture in the diary.
“The nights are great fun and raising almost enough to cover one full day of hospice care is just fantastic.
“We’re hoping the quiz committee will run a bumper quiz night in our big weekender event next summer.”
