Pop­u­lar quiz nights raise thou­sands

QUIZ or­gan­is­ers came up with all the right an­swers by rais­ing £5,300 for East Cheshire Hospice this year.

Three quizzes at Tyther­ing­ton High School and Marl­bor­ough Pri­mary School were sup­ported by lo­cal busi­nesses, in­clud­ing Arighi Bianchi, Boots, Bridge Ho­tel Prest­bury, Clon­ter Opera, Gawsworth Hall, So­phie Lou Beauty, The Rus­tic Cof­fee Com­pany and Water­stones.

The quiz com­mit­tee is made up of Paul Mor­ris­sey, vice chair­man of the char­ity’s trustees, long-time sup­porter and Sun­flower Cen­tre vol­un­teer Ali­son Bram­mar and Mark Wat­son, who helps or­gan­ise the pop­u­lar Mac­cles­field Pub Quiz League which has just be­gun a new sea­son.

Storm Brew­ing pro­vide the drinks at quizzes and hospice cater­ers make the sup­per, with cakes baked by vol­un­teers.

Hospice fundraiser Lisa Ball said: “Ev­ery­one loves the quizzes, which have be­come a firm fix­ture in the diary.

“The nights are great fun and rais­ing al­most enough to cover one full day of hospice care is just fan­tas­tic.

“We’re hop­ing the quiz com­mit­tee will run a bumper quiz night in our big week­ender event next sum­mer.”
