A NEW initiative that helps people get kickstarted in business has the backing of Macclesfield MP David Rutley.

A brainchild of the Make It Macclesfield team, Enterprising Macclesfield has been formed to help start-up businesses and existing commercial and social enterprises, by providing a range of expertise and support, including coaching, a network of local advisory partners, and access to funding and regional support to encourage growth.

At a breakfast meeting held at the Town Hall by Make It Macclesfield on 20th November, Mr Rutley urged local businesses to make use of the services available and support the initiative. Support can be provided by signing up as a coach, becoming a local advisory partner or donor, or even becoming a patron of the organisation.

The organisation hopes to play an important role in the local community by building a sustainable support organisation that will encourage and stimulate enterprise in Macclesfield.

This has the potential to develop inward investment and create employment, delivering real benefits to the local community.

Enterprising Macclesfield will be run as a voluntary initiative driven by a group of local professionals who are passionate about the value of enterprise to the local economy.

They will be supported by funding from local individuals and businesses and by attracting a share of existing regional, national and European enterprise funds. Speaking at the breakfast, Mr Rutley said the group could make a real difference to the economy.

He said: “Enterprising Macclesfield is a great initiative that has the potential to make a real difference to our local economy in Macclesfield. There is an entrepreneurial spirit in our town, and it is so important for our entrepreneurs and small businesses to get access to the right combination of coaching support and funding to deliver successful enterprises.

“I would encourage as many people and businesses locally to give the initiative the support it rightly deserves.”

Businesses and groups who are interested in participating with Enterprising Macclesfield can do so by registering on the website enterprisingmacclesfield. co.uk.
