New store to bring 30 new jobs

POYNTON is poised for an economic boost and 30 new jobs with the arrival of a new Aldi store.

Aldi, the discount food retailer, is building the store on the former Brookfield Hydro Motors site on London Road South.

Constructi­on started in July with the aim to be complete by February 2016.

Ahead of the opening Aldi are now recruiting and are keen to offer jobs to people from the local area.

Ruth Doyle, Aldi regional managing director, said: “Aldi has seen an increase in popularity across its stores in the North West of England, which has allowed us to create a significan­t number of job opportunit­ies for people in the local area.

“We’re looking to attract applicants with a passion for retail from a range of background­s, including supermarke­t, fast-food and clothing chains, who can demonstrat­e relevant retail experience and a hard working attitude.”

There will be a range of opportunit­ies, including: deputy store manager, which pays £9.15 per hour rising to £10.75 per hour, plus £3.95 extra per hour when managing the store; store assistant, which pays from £8.15 per hour. The new food store includes a net sales area of 1,140 sqm and a gross external area of 1,618 sqm.

There will be a car park for 100 vehicles included five disabled and eight parent and child spaces.

Aldi stores typically open between 8am and 10pm Monday to Saturday with opening hours on Sunday between 10am and 4pm.
