Club’s 10 years on the bounce
MACCLESFIELD Trampoline Club celebrated its tenth anniversary with an in-house competition involving 120 people.
The event was set up by Rachael Burrows-Jarvis, who set up the club a decade ago and included competitors from Macclesfield, Knutsford, Wilmslow and other surrounding areas.
“In the 10 years, Macclesfield Trampoline Club has been highly successful in coaching from grass roots through to national and international competitors,” said BurrowsJarvis.
“Over time, the club has succeeded in winning many national titles. We run two competitions every year to enable competitors the opportunities to compete in their very first competition and then to progress up through the categories as they improve.
“Trampoline athletes need to have extreme ded- ication and commitment to succeed. As well as being physically fit there is a lot of mental preparation and training to succeed in mastering the skills and maintaining them.”
As well as setting up the club ten years ago, Burrows-Jarvis coaches at The King’s School in Macclesfield. At the school, children have represented the school and won national titles, ranging from infants all the way through to sixth form, while she also men- tors the children to become coaches themselves.
“Helping the children become coaches is important because this is great in developing,” said Burrows-Jarvis.
“It can develop confidence, increase their (the children) knowledge of good coaching practices and help you gain the British Gymnastics coaching qualifications.”
The event was a success with 20 champions being made in different catego- ries and a pleased Burrows Jarvis said: “I am very thankful to all the officials who helped on the day to make the competition successful,”
“It is wonderful to see so many children getting involved in the sport. The sport has grown so much in the last 10 years.”
Rowena Moores was awarded the overall competition winner. Moores has trained with BurrowsJarvis for over 10 years and has achieved numerous national titles.
