Walk this way to break record

-

SPRING might seem like an eon away but now’s the time to think about a walk in the great outdoors.

There’s just a few weeks left after Christmas to sign up for early bird entry in the 2016 Starlight Walk in aid of East Cheshire Hospice.

The family friendly walk, now in its third year, is in the picturesque grounds of Capesthorne Hall and takes place on Friday, April 22.

It’s one of the charity’s flagship fundraising events – raising more than £40,000 last year – and event organiser, Jessica Ruth, has high hopes for a recordbreaking occasion.

“More than 600 people took part in last year’s event but we’d just love to beat those figures this year as the route can take lots more walkers,” she said.

Walkers are able to choose their distance – one loop of the route for 2.5k, two loops for 5k or four loops for 10k.

Many who walk take a candle to light the way through the Enchanted Forest or carry a pebble of remembrance along Memory Lane and personalise a paper lantern which will light the Homeward Straight, welcoming all back to the finish point in the Field of Celebration.

The Starlight Walk is a family friendly event with face-painting, live music, hot food and drinks with gates opening from 6pm, well before the walk which starts at 7.30pm.

Free parking is available.

Earlybird entry costs just £7 for children and £12 for adults and to register go to www. eastcheshirehospice. org.uk/starlightwalk. Booking forms are also available from the hospice and its charity shops.
