MP opens school play area
ARTWORK by a pupil at Bosley St Mary’s Primary School will feature on a Christmas card sent out to hundreds of constituents.
Macclesfield MP David Rutley invited pupils to enter a competition to design his annual Parliamentary Christmas card.
A number of wonderful entries were considered by Mr Rutley, giving him a very difficult decision on who should win, before he chose the festive scene of Bosley St Mary’s Church, drawn by Daisy Worrall from year six.
Other highly commended entries were provided by Erin Shaw of year six and Scarlett Squire from year five, who both came up with wondeful designs for the festive season.
Mr Rutley has run a Christmas card competition every year since becoming Member of Parliament for Macclesfield, with the winning entry featuring his Parliamentary Christmas card, which is sent to hundreds of Parliamentary colleagues, Government Ministers, civic leaders and community groups in Macclesfield.
Speaking at a special school assembly, where Mr Rutley announced the winner. He said: “The pupils who took part in the contest did themselves, their school and their community proud, particularly after such a challenging year for the village, providing a very high standard competition. It was great to be able to attend the special assembly, to give Daisy her well-deserved first prize. I would like to thank all the pupils who took part, and teachers and parents who helped out, for all their hard work.”
