VICTORIAN LIFE

DISCOVER life in a Victorian Workhouse with the Friends of Macclesfield Silk Heritage.

The group is hosting a talk at the Heritage Centre on Roe Street with Tom Hughes today (Wednesday, January 13) at 7.30pm.

Historian Tom will look at how the poor lived, from the dismal diet and daily routine, to gruesome tales and treats for special occasions.

Future events on the Friends’ calendar include a talk on February 10 by a museum volunteer Ian Richardson, who will be talking about all the work that goes on behind the scenes at the museum.

Other speakers include a former teacher and school governor, and a visit from local researcher Basil Jeuda.

Entrance costs £4 or £3 for Friends members.

For more information contact the centre on 01625 613210.
