Home insulation savings ‘continue year on year’
WITH current UK weather temperatures falling, the National Insulation Association (NIA) is reinforcing the benefits of home insulation and urging householders to act now.
Neil Marshall, chief executive of the NIA, said the UK had been experiencing a mild winter, but it was important to be prepared for cold snaps.
He said: “We are urging homeowners to be prepared and insulate their properties.
“The NIA advises that around 60 per cent of heat can be lost through uninsulated walls and roofs; but with the right measures put in place, householders could be keeping this valuable heat in their homes.
“Cavity wall insulation can be installed in just a few hours, isn’t disruptive to householders and the benefits are immediate.
“There are over seven million households in the UK that have solid walls rather than cavity walls that can benefit from home insulation too.
“Solid wall insulation can be applied on the outside or inside of the walls meaning it can be installed in a wide variety of properties.
“There are other benefits too, in addition to lower energy bills; it will be easier to heat, improve the appearance of the property and sound proofing, resulting in a more comfortable home to live in.”
The NIA urges householders considering home insulation to only use NIA-registered installers for added reassurance and peace of mind as they meet stringent membership criteria and are all signed up to its strict Code of Professional Practice.
Neil added: “Home insulation is the single most effective way of saving money on domestic energy bills, with savings continuing year on year meaning payback periods can be as little as five years.”
To help householders find a local NIA-registered installer there is a postcode locator on the NIA website which enables householders to locate installers by proximity to their home. Also available are a free survey and quotation, plus advice on any help that is available to pay for the insulation.
