Name of event: Northern Chamber Orchestra (NCO) Macclesfield 2016: Martin James Bartlett. Where / when is it?: Macclesfield Heritage Centre, Roe Street, Macclesfield, SK11 6UT. Saturday, March 5, 7.30pm. What does it involve?: Mozart’s true character is perhaps revealed in his flamboyant, melodically witty piano concerto, performed by Martin James Bartlett, winner – BBC Young Musician of 2014. In contrast, Tchaikovsky offers up a wistful, ravishingly poignant piece. To close, the NCO performs a hardly known symphony by Haydn – full of invention, surprises and delights.
