Pupils jump for joy at re­sults

TYTHER­ING­TON School staff and pupils are cel­e­brat­ing af­ter be­ing ranked in the top 10 per cent of sixth forms out of more than 2,500 in the coun­try.

Head­teacher Em­manuel Botwe re­ceived a spe­cial cer­tifi­cate to mark the achieve­ment from Ad­vanced Level Per­for­mance Sys­tems, Alps, a com­pany pro­vid­ing A-level, AS-level and BTEC Level 3 re­ports to help im­prove stu­dent per­for­mance.

The com­pany an­a­lysed 2,580 schools and col­leges’ A-level per­for­mance over the year 2014-15.

The ac­co­lade fol­lows the school’s in­clu­sion in a na­tional news­pa­per’s list of the top 500 com­pre­hen­sive schools.

Mr Botwe said: “The hard work of our stu­dents, the com­mit­ment of our staff and their shared pas­sion for learn­ing has re­sulted in an­other year of ex­cel­lent A-level re­sults for our out­stand­ing sixth form.

“We are de­lighted to be yet again ranked in the top 10 per cent of schools in the coun­try.

“We were thrilled to be in­cluded in the Sun­day Times Top Com­pre­hen­sive list too.

“It has been great to be able to cel­e­brate all the fan­tas­tic news about our achieve­ments to­gether.”

Head of sixth form, Caro­line Bren­nan, said: “We have a very spe­cial sixth form in­deed.

“It com­bines ex­cep­tion­ally high aca­demic re­sults with a re­ally won­der­ful com­mu­nity at­mos­phere.”
