Weather playing havoc
THE Manchester Alliance programme has been severely disrupted with an unprecedented blank start to the second half of their busy winter programme that has seen the first six scheduled competitions having to be cancelled – the worst in recent memory.
The cancellations came at Tytherington, Romiley, Crewe, Leyland, Brookdale and Chorley but the scratch knock out did see the first two rounds played thanks to the initiative of the competitors.
The cancellation of events has paused the keenly contested Order of Merit quest for the professionals and amateurs who play regularly in the winter competitions and gain points for their placings in the events.
The current standings are Professional OoM: G Cox (Davenport) 193, A Hodkinson (Chorlton) 153, C Corrigan 149, S Jackson (Disley) 127, I Ridgway (Disley) 127, M Smith (Stamford) 124, A Palmer (Chorley) 120, T Maxwell (Knutsford) 111, S Parry (Hart Common) 107, D Brunton (Ringway) 101.
