Macclesfield Express

It’s finely poised at the Lane

-

THERE’S plenty on the line at Altrincham’s Moss Lane ground on Saturday when the home side welcome Macclesfield with one team involved in a tussle to avoid relegation and the other pushing for a play-off berth.

Though Macc are installed as Paddy Power’s marginal 7/5 favourites, while Altrincham are offered at 15/8 by Betway to claim three points en route to what their supporters hope will be a continued march to survival.

Macclesfield’s stubborn defence was praised following last weekend’s goalless draw against Wrexham and they’re 11/4 (Skybet) to retain a clean sheet again on Saturday. Yet while matters are expected to be tight, few backers would rule out an early goal and Stan James’s 15/8 for the game’s opening strike to arrive inside the first 15 minutes has found favour amongst punters.

The draw, offered at 13/5 by William Hill, is little use to either side and while the score draw is priced at 10/3 by Ladbrokes, both teams need to win if they’re to achieve their different goals.

Punters who concur may fancy the 3/1 (Stan James) for Macc to enjoy a one-goal margin of victory; bolder punters are more likely to be tempted by Coral’s 9/1 for them to win 1-0.
