Cash boost for popular disabled sport charity
A WHEELCHAIR sports charity has won £1,000 from a community fund to help its activities.
The Wheelies Sport and Activity Club won the donation from estate agent Gascoigne Halman’s £25,000 Community Challenge fund.
The charity is using the money to pay for hiring Tytherington High School Sports Hall for the next year.
The charity which was founded in 2001 aims to promote healthy recreation for people with disabilities, running programmes to develop physical, educational and social skills.
The group welcomes individuals of all ages and abilities and covers activities including, basketball, football, sailing, swimming and cycling.
Margaret Meredith, a trustee of the charity, said: “We are delighted to receive this generous donation from Gascoigne Halman. With this funding we will be able to continue supporting our members so they can live independently in the local community.”
Gascoigne Halman celebrated its 25th anniversary by setting up a £25,000 fund to support local causes. The aim was to select charities and community groups that create a positive impact on the community.
