●● HIT and run driver sent to prison after smashing into teenager on Poynton street (website and Express, March 16). Ron Swanson: Maybe this will also prompt a rethink of the Poynton shared space, because it makes no real sense anyway. Jake Miller: Rethink the shared space? Why? The guy was driving like a maniac, the shared space had nothing to do with the incident. Roads are safer without him on them. Chris Bamford: I’m sick of drivers thrashing through Poynton like it’s somehow interfering with their journey. If anything, this scheme highlights how inconsiderate and obnoxious many drivers are. It’s time that the driving test had a psychometric assessment. Joanne Houghton: I had 2 near misses when my kids were little, before shared space. Karen Higginbotham: Two years is not long enough. So glad you are able Chris to move on with your life, you’re amazing x. Ruth Kendall: He should be banned for life! Zoe East: Was on my way home and saw this happen. Glad they’ve got him. Sarah Northrop: Sad thing is, I know this guy, I worked with him and his family. I find this story so so sad for all involved. Trefor John Heywood: Nowhere near long enough! ●● ‘DANGEROUS’ pot holes on Cumberland Street not bad enough says council (website and Express, March 16). Peter Wood: Perhaps the council officers should be sent out on bikes to inspect such issues? It’d be healthier for them (unless they fell off in the potholes), and it’d reduce the council’s carbon footprint. Oh, and they might actually understand the problem. Richard Ruane: I reported the ones by the Kings’ end as they were colossal! The ones opposite the regency were causing people to swerve lanes... still not dangerous enough! Tara Murkin: The ones on Western Avenue are horrendous!
