Bollington is in bloom at spring show
SPRING is the time for new beginnings and Bollington and District Horticultural Society’s 50th anniversary Spring Show was no exception.
The show not only boasted a great turnout at the civic hall in Bollington, but a whole new layout.
Wendy Stoddart, chairman of the society, said: “We were very pleased with how the show had gone because we had tried this new layout.
“We thought that it had gone very well and everyone was commenting on how nice it looked.”
To open the prize giving, Mrs Stoddart welcomed everyone to the show and commented on the entries submitted by children.
She said: “I hope that you have enjoyed the show and that you are as proud of the children as we all are.”
She then passed the proceedings to the Mayor of Bollington, Angela Williams, to present the awards.
Mrs Williams said: “Thank you for inviting me to present the prizes.
“Five years ago I was privileged to present the prizes and awards at your Spring Show and I was amazed then at the high standard of all the exhibits.
“This year I was even more amazed at what I have seen.
“The judges really, really must have had a difficult task in deciding which were the best items.
“To me the standard of all the exhibits is exceptionally high.”
She added: “The children’s exhibits are absolutely amazing and of a high standard.”
This year, two of the members of the society, Audrey Downs and Angela Barnshaw, walked away with four cups each.
The children’s classes was won by Thomas Denham Everett.
