Volunteers needed

-

THE British Heart Foundation shop in Macclesfield is appealing for local people to volunteer and help fight heart disease.

There is a wide range of volunteer roles available at the Mill Street store from helping out on the sales floor to working as a driver out on the road to collecting stock or helping behind the scenes getting stock ready to go on sale.

The store’s new assistant manager Kim Doughty said: “I started volunteering with the British Heart Foundation shop in Wilmslow while I was looking for work and I loved it so much I ended up applying for the assistant manager’s position here in Macclesfield.

“It’s such an exciting environment to work in as there are so many differ- ent things to get stuck into. Everyday is different and you meet so many great people. I’d love to meet anyone who is interested in joining our team in Macclesfield and showing them all the things I love about our shop.

“Volunteering is rewarding, offering an opportunity to learn new skills and make friends with people from the local community. Our volunteers are at the heart of the charity and we simply wouldn’t be able to continue our lifesaving work without them.”

Coronary heart disease is the UK’s single biggest killer.

Manager Vikki Arasteh said: “For over 50 years the British Heart Foundation has pioneered research that’s trans- formed the lives of people living with heart and circulatory conditions. Our work has been central to the discoveries of vital treatments that are changing the fight against heart disease.

“But so many people still need our help; from babies born with lifethreatening heart problems to the many mums, dads and grandparents who survive a heart attack and endure the daily battles of heart failure.

“Every hour of a volunteer’s time could help make a difference to people’s lives.”

If anyone is interested in getting involved, they can visit the shop and ask to speak to Vicky or Kim or they can call us on 01625 511958 to find out more.
