New product development boss

LEADING food ingredients supplier Direct Food Ingredients has announced a new key appointment.

Food industry professional Dr Mark Wareing has been recruited to head up a brand new department of the Macclesfield firm and will advise bluechip manufacturing and retail clients on product formulations.

As the new product development manager, Mark will be tasked with setting up the new department and supporting the business to provide clients with in-depth consultancy in relation to product development, adding value across the firm’s client base.

Mark has 30 years experience in food formulation, starting his career at Johnson and Johnson, and will bring a wealth of knowledge to the new department.

He joins from Adams Food Ingredients where he worked as a senior innovations technologist for three years.

Prior to this he worked as a senior development technologist for over six years at Tate and Lyle.

Mark said: “I am excited to join DFI and start advising on the technical aspects of new and existing business.

“By setting up enhanced in-house NPD facilities I will be able to help our clients develop their ranges.”
