BBC3 brings us this powerful drama, which is airing on TV after receiving its debut online, and tackles the subject of ‘honour violence’ in Britain. Kiran Sonia Sawar stars as teenager Salma, whose widowed father Shahzad is determined to find her a suitable husband, and thinks he has picked one in the shape of Haroon. However, Salma has fallen for Imi, who urges her to leave her family and marriage arrangements behind in favour of a new life. When Haroon confronts Shahzad about his daughter’s actions, the scene is set for more than one tragedy…
