●● DAVID Rutley has written to Government ministers to raise concerns over Cheshire East earmarking green belt for housing. Gail Mclean: This town has been dead for years and no amount of houses being built will stop that.

They need to be giving the shop owners 6 months free rent and rates, then a reduced rate for the rest of the term. It’s got nothing to do with houses being built. They have a mill they could buy and convert into flats on London Road, there are lots of houses that need doing up. I don’t agree with them using green belt land. Chris Newton: Times change, we are in a housing crisis, we need homes, they probably had this same debate when they built the Weston, Upton, Moss and other estates. We need homes to live in sacrifices must be made. Paul Dunlevy: Get some houses built.

Use some green belt and stop cramming houses into an already crowded town. Stop moaning and start building before this town dies. Rachel Cope: Sad thing is that the homes won’t be affordable.

They should be using brownfield sites first and concentrating on reviving the town centre. No plans for easing the additional pressure on already congested roads or the extra school places needed either!! ●● LOTS of our readers were in support of the 48 hour strike by junior doctors. Janet Daly: When the politicians freeze their pay rises and curb their expenses they will have a leg to stand on.

Till then they should treat everybody fairly. Dorothy Fletcher: Strike junior doctors, we’re all behind your cause. NHS is precious, so are you and all the nurses! Lucy Connor: Completely humbled by the overwhelming support expressed by readers here.

Thank you so very much!

I promise you we wouldn’t be out there unless we felt it was absolutely our only option.

I know the dispute is complicated and often conflated to appear as though it’s all about pay but I assure you we have the best interests of our patients and the NHS in mind. James Spilsbury: My operation has been cancelled today but I still support the doctors strike, unless they have millions hidden in Panama like many politicians.
