Under 11s hit the heights at Wigan

- TRAMPOLINING

KING’S School trampolinists hit the heights with another fantastic set of results at this year’s National Championships in the Robin Park Sports Arena in Wigan.

Hundreds of young athletes travelled to Lancashire from across the UK for the blue ribbon event with King’s under 11 novice boys and girls both placed second and the under 11 intermediate girls placed third.

Oliver Jones, who was competing as an individual, came one spot off the podium in fourth, with the under 14 elite girls also in a hugely creditable fourth

King’s Trampoline and Cheerleading Coach Rachael Burrows-Jarvis said: “These are fantastic achievements and I am very proud of the children for reaching the finals and performing so consistently. It demands not only natural talent and hours upon hours of practice, but the ability to produce your best under pressure.”

Alongside the achievements on the trampoline, many of the trampolinists and other King’s pupils with those from Rachael’s Maximum Cheer troupe also competed in the National Cheerleading finals on the same day.

Over the two events the Macclesfield contingent achieved 18 podium positions in the UK with some teams earning selection to represent the UK in the European Championships.
