What does the or­gan­i­sa­tion do?: It runs Mac­cles­field Hospi­tal along with a wide range of com­mu­nity health ser­vices. How did you be­come a vol­un­teer?: I re­sponded to an ad­ver­tise­ment by the CVS Cheshire East in the Mac­cles­field Ex­press. Which projects have you been in­volved with re­cently?: I work on the main re­cep­tion desk and also as­sist in pro­cess­ing vol­un­teer ap­pli­ca­tions. What do you en­joy most about do­ing this?: Meet­ing a wide va­ri­ety of peo­ple and help­ing to en­sure a high stan­dard of cus­tomer care. What is your favourite place in Mac­cles­field?: Church Street, for its eclec­tic se­lec­tion of shops, cafés and restau­rants. Ideally how would you spend ev­ery day?: Break­fast­ing on fresh­ly­made crois­sants from Four Wa­ter Salt, Mac­cles­field, fol­lowed by vis­it­ing art gal­leries, mu­se­ums and lots of shop­ping. What was the best hol­i­day you have been on?: Back­pack­ing in Ja­pan. If money were no ob­ject what would you do?: Pay to en­sure all pub­lic li­braries re­main open and visit friends liv­ing abroad, first class. What one piece of ad­vice would you give?: Be true to your­self. What was your first job?: Ar­rang­ing be­spoke Aus­trala­sia travel. What is on your CD / MP3 player?: New Or­der and the Pet Shop Boys among many oth­ers. What is your favourite TV show?: All-time favourites in­clude Se­in­feld and Frasier, cur­rently en­joy­ing Bet­ter Call Saul. What are you read­ing at the mo­ment?: A His­tory of Mod­ern Bri­tain by An­drew Marr. What is your big­gest in­spi­ra­tion?: Sir Tim Bern­ers-Lee’s re­al­i­sa­tion that the true po­ten­tial of the World Wide Web would only be un­leashed if any­one, any­where could use it with­out pay­ing a fee or hav­ing to ask for per­mis­sion. Who would you like to in­vite to din­ner?: The par­tic­i­pants of Gog­gle­box.
