Name: Hayley O’Neill. Which organisati­on are you involved with?: East Cheshire NHS Trust. What does the organisati­on do?: It runs Macclesfie­ld Hospital along with a wide range of community health services. How did you become a volunteer?: I responded to an advertisem­ent by the CVS Cheshire East in the Macclesfie­ld Express. Which projects have you been involved with recently?: I work on the main reception desk and also assist in processing volunteer applicatio­ns. What do you enjoy most about doing this?: Meeting a wide variety of people and helping to ensure a high standard of customer care. What is your favourite place in Macclesfie­ld?: Church Street, for its eclectic selection of shops, cafés and restaurant­s. Ideally how would you spend every day?: Breakfasti­ng on freshlymad­e croissants from Four Water Salt, Macclesfie­ld, followed by visiting art galleries, museums and lots of shopping. What was the best holiday you have been on?: Backpackin­g in Japan. If money were no object what would you do?: Pay to ensure all public libraries remain open and visit friends living abroad, first class. What one piece of advice would you give?: Be true to yourself. What was your first job?: Arranging bespoke Australasi­a travel. What is on your CD / MP3 player?: New Order and the Pet Shop Boys among many others. What is your favourite TV show?: All-time favourites include Seinfeld and Frasier, currently enjoying Better Call Saul. What are you reading at the moment?: A History of Modern Britain by Andrew Marr. What is your biggest inspiratio­n?: Sir Tim Berners-Lee’s realisatio­n that the true potential of the World Wide Web would only be unleashed if anyone, anywhere could use it without paying a fee or having to ask for permission. Who would you like to invite to dinner?: The participan­ts of Gogglebox.
