Moss Rose lift League Shield

MOSS Rose Juniors Football Club U11s travelled to Moss Farm, Northwich on Sunday to on Sandbach United Falcons in the final of the U11 Mid Cheshire Youth Football League Shield Final.

This formed part of the Mid Cheshire Youth Football League Finals day with Moss Rose being the only team to represent Macclesfie­ld.

This was a great occassion for all the players and supporters of whom there were many both from Macclesfie­ld and Sandbach it was truly great day with weather to match.

The teams paraded out led by the match officials to huge cheers from friends and family.

From the start the match was a high tempo hard fought affair with the bad in midfield being the key.

Moss Rose scored first when Jake Edwards pinched the ball, from a defender and slammed it past the Sandbach goalkeeper into the bottom corner.

Sandbach responded straight away with a well worked breakaway Goal 1-1, for the remainder of the half the Moss Rose goal came under significan­t pressure buts the lads held out half time 1-1.

The half time team talk complete Moss Rose regrouped and began to win the midfield battle.

The lads pressed hard and were eventually rewarded when Robert Read collected a loose ball in midfield field and slid it forward to release Matthew Read who led fly with a long range effort that beat the keeper into the bottom corner. 2-1

From this point to the final whilst the game was end to end with oohs and aahs from the crowd as Sandbach tried to level the game whilst Moss Rose tried to counter attack and seal the victory.

The final whistle finally arrived without any further goals with the Moss Rose players and supporters celebratin­g victory.

A superb day and a great game with Moss Rose Juniors crowned as the 2016 U11 Mid Cheshire Youth Football League Shield Winners.
