Artist’s design for fell race beer
AN artist has teamed up with a brewery to create a beer label for an upcoming fell race.
Graphic artist Jon Tatham has been working with The Bollington Brewing Co to create the artwork for a limited edition series of its Three Peaks Fell Race ales.
In honour of the annual fell race organised by Andy Skelhorn on May 14 – the only one of its kind to start and finish from a brewery – Jon will be exhibiting work inspired by the theme of fell running at The Vale Inn, Bollington, until the end of May.
A seasoned fell runner and talented artist, he has included some reference to local fell races as well as abstract creations related to the sport.
His exhibition includes different artwork including painted canvasses and mixed media collages.
Jon said: “Having run around the race route area many times, there is a particular blue hue to the sky that reminds me of the Bollington hills.
“The summit markers are used in the design for each label and I’ve gone for a fresh look to set it apart from traditional pump clip designs.”
The Bollington Brewery, as co-creator of the race, has developed three special brews under its Three Peaks series – Nab Head, Kerridge and White Nancy – which will released over the next four weeks.
One of the signature series will be bottled and available on the day at the brewery.
Lee Wainwright, owner of The Bollington Brewing Co, said: “We’ve always been huge advocates of Jon’s work and his distinctive style.
“As an experienced fell runner and well known artist, we felt the collaboration was a great natural fit.
“We look forward to showcasing his work at The Vale Inn over the coming weeks.”
