Rescue team thank fundraiser
MOUNTAIN rescue team volunteers presented a food seller who has donated money over the years with an certificate of appreciation on his last day.
After 10 years serving food and drinks to visitors in Macclesfield Forest, John Sellors has served his last customer. Over the years he has contributed more than £1,500 to Buxton Mountain Rescue Team and even on his last day he remembered his friends on the team by providing free food and encouraging customers to make a donation.
Dave Goodman the team’s fundraising manager, presented John with a certificate to mark the occasion and celebrate his 10 years of support for the charity which helps walkers in distress on the hills.
Dave said how much the team appreciates his help, adding: “Without this kind of generosity from the local community the team wouldn’t exist and it wouldn’t be able to go to the aid of people in distress on the local hills.”
John has lived all his life in the Peak District and began his love of the outdoors by walking the hills from the age of 12 and then progressing to climbing the local crags and even joining the Derbyshire Cave Rescue Team in his 20s.
He has also enjoyed scuba diving, until he had a recent health scare while on a dive in the Maldives, and has a passion for skiing.
John started Nice Nosh after successfully bidding for the concession at Macclesfield Forest after being made redundant from his engineering job at Otter Controls which he had held for over 30 years.
The combination of being outdoors and cooking made this a simple choice for John and was reinforced by his enthusiastic support for the Macclesfield Fair Trade Group.
