Staff go extra mile to raise £5k for cause
A HEALTHCARE communications agency has donated more than £5,000 to East Cheshire Hospice over the last year as part of its ongoing support for the charity.
Ashfield Healthcare Communications, based at Victoria Mill in Macclesfield and Tytherington Business Park, has held a variety of fundraising events, including raffles, cake sales, Easter egg treasure hunts and an inter-office football tournament.
The agency, which manages communication programmes for the pharmaceutical and healthcare industry, has been located in Macclesfield for more than 30 years.
It employs more than 800 staff worldwide, with half its associates based in the UK, most of them in Macclesfield.
Viv Adshead, CEO of Ashfield Healthcare Communications, said: “While we’re a global organisation, we have strong roots in the Macclesfield area and are passionate about supporting charities and making a difference at a local level.
“We’re delighted to be supporting the vital services provided by East Cheshire Hospice.
“We see how important it is to so many people and how it touches the lives of our own employees and their families.” This is an exciting year for us as we focus on further growth and expansion, though we’re also looking forward to combining our hard work with a calendar of events and fundraising activity that will allow us to continue our financial support to the hospice.”
Roxana Pirlea, corporate and community relationships manager for East Cheshire Hospice, said: “We’d like to thank Ashfield Healthcare Communications for its generous ongoing support. As a communityfunded charity, we rely on the support of dedicated fundraisers to maintain exceptional levels of care and support for patients and families dealing with life-limiting illnesses.
“We receive less than 20 per cent funding from government, which means we must raise £7,500 each and every day.”
