Labour party branch appoints new officers
NEW officers were appointed at a meeting of Labour party members in Macclesfield.
Tim Holland and Rob Vernon were selected to replace retiring chairman Sue Dale and secretary Richard Watson at the AGM of the north branch of the Labour Party for the Macclesfield constituency.
Tim Holland, 46, said: “Over the next year I am hoping we can build locally on the upsurge in Labour Party membership and new sense of purpose surrounding the emergence of Jeremy Corbyn as party leader.
“In particular I shall be trying as chairman to be responsive to the wishes of the grass roots membership and constituents generally.”
Rob Vernon, 18, said that he’s delighted to be involved with the party at a time when it has seen an increase in young members since Jeremy Corbyn became leader.
He said: “I’m very excited to be involved at what is an important time for the Labour Party.
“We’ll be looking to increase activity within the area and really capitalise on the huge increase in membership, much of which has come from young people, that we’ve seen joining the party since last May.”
