Hayley, 20, from Siddington, was one of 1,000 young people invited to the palace to celebrate the diamond anniversary of The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award (DofE) and received her Gold award.
Hayley, who is a member of the 2nd Jodrell Senior Section Unit took 18 months to complete the Gold DofE Award, working determinedly through the five sections of her DofE programme.
Her diverse selection of activities included learning to drive, practising ballet and volunteering with the British Heart Foundation, as well as taking part in a week-long residential event.
She said: “My DofE experience have provided me with a range of life experiences including team work, communication skills, understanding people’s needs and flexibility.
“DofE also proved to me that if you have a positive mind-set then you can achieve anything.”
Hayley is now undertaking her Diamond DofE by challenging herself to climb ten mountains in six days to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the DofE award.
