Regional accolade for personal trainer
APERSONAL trainer has won a regional award for her ser- vices.
Emily Lakin, from Macclesfield, has been named Personal Trainer of the Year Cheshire 2016 at the Acquisition International Business Awards.
Emily, who runs Empower Personal Training, based at Bollington Health and Leisure and the Tytherington Club, said: “I feel extremely honoured that my hard work and commitment has been recognised with this award.
“It is my hope that it will help me expand my client base further. I see this award as recognition of what I have achieved so far and hope it will further aid my company’s development.
“I am passionate about continuing to develop myself, my business and welcome any opportuni- ties that come my way.”
Emily is a personal trainer, fitness instructor and swimming coach working in Macclesfield, Alderley Edge and Knutsford.
She said: “I have always led and enjoyed an active lifestyle. From the age of 13, I assisted in swimming lessons after school. I undertook my first swim- ming instructor award at the age of 16.
“I have been very fortunate in the opportunities that have come my way through the organisations I have worked for.
“As with any profession there are always hurdles, but I strive to overcome them with a smile on my face.”
As well as helping others get fit, Emily has also set herself a personal goal for charity and will be walking the Great Wall of China in October for the NSPCC.
Emily, who hopes to complete the 50km route in five days, trekking for up to seven hours a day, said: “This is far from a nice walk and no small feat of a challenge. In fact, I will be pushed to challenge myself immensely as I trek along some of the most remote parts of the Great Wall.
“I will be walking along long narrow stretches that are quite tricky to navigate around, as well as climbing and descending thousands of steps with large drops either side.”
