Each episode of this se­ries ex­plores the lives of three in­di­vid­u­als all born on the same day. One is now a fa­mous fig­ure, and the others or­di­nary peo­ple with ex­tra­or­di­nary sto­ries to tell. The three in­di­vid­u­als’ per­sonal sto­ries are com­bined with the ma­jor his­tor­i­cal events to re­veal their con­trast­ing ex­pe­ri­ences. The first pro­gramme fo­cuses on ex­plorer Sir Ran­ulph Fi­ennes, who en­tered the world on the same day – March 7, 1944 – as first­gen­er­a­tion im­mi­grant Ewart Ren­nalls and foster mother to 97 chil­dren, Frances Chorl­ton.
