Victory sets up Pott’s top of the table clash

- GRAHAM HACKNEY

A SUPER sunny day at Pott Shrigley saw Holmes Chapel enjoying taking first knock on a flat pitch.

After only 12 overs they had rattled up 115 for 1 then the introduction of Jason Hanaghan 5 -35 and Matt Jackson 3-44 saw the rest of Chapel’s batting collapse to a respectable total of 183 all out.

Shrigley made a slow start after losing the early wicket of Alex Jackson. This brought Jamie Hart to join Matt Tarr. Slowly with solid batting they took control before Tarr opened his shoulders to clear the boundary several times, meanwhile Hart began to cut and drive in his effortless manner.

Chapel had no answer to the stroke play of the Pott pair.

Their unbeaten partnership with Tarr 85* and Hart 78* took Shrigley to a vital victory. All bodes well for a top of the table clash next week.

Another tight match for the seconds saw them come so close to taking all the points but just missed out as Trafford tiptoed home with the last pair intact.
