Name of event: Wild Food Cook­ery and For­ag­ing Course. Where / when is it?: Satur­day, July 16, in Bolling­ton. What does it in­volve?: If you’ve ever wanted to learn how to utilise and cook with the wild plants sur­round­ing us then this is the course for you. Learn along­side pro­fes­sional wild food for­ager James Wood. Through the day we will learn how to cor­rectly and safely iden­tify, source and har­vest the huge abun­dance of wild greens sur­round­ing us, while try­ing a huge range of pre-made wild food tasters. We then re­turn to our main site to be­gin the cook­ery side of our course. You will all learn how to chop, boil, steam, fry, pre­serve and utilise the plants we’ve har­vested, cre­at­ing your own truly sea­sonal three course meal which we can sit and en­joy with wild wines, cor­dials or even cock­tails in the beau­ti­ful sur­round­ings Cheshire has to of­fer. In­cluded: All cook­ing equip­ment and ma­te­ri­als, wild food tasters, tea, cof­fee, re­fresh­ments, lunch and aprons for the ses­sion. Who is it suit­able for?: Peo­ple who want to try new flavours, who are in­ter­ested in eat­ing truly lo­cal and sea­sonal pro­duce and any­one in­ter­ested in learn­ing more about the out­doors. Any other in­for­ma­tion?: I work along­side the rangers and lo­cal grow­ing groups to pro­mote re­spon­si­ble and sus­tain­able for­ag­ing, I’m fully in­sured, am a mem­ber of the Euro­pean for­ag­ing as­so­ci­a­tion and have run these cour­ses for over five years, so rest as­sured your safe tast­ing the out­doors with me.
