Nursery’s ‘outstanding’ hat-trick
A PRE-SCHOOL is celebrating after getting top mark from education chiefs for the third time in a row.
Parkroyal Pre-school has once again been awarded ‘outstanding’ status in its recent inspection from Ofsted.
The centre, based on Lyon Street, got the highest grade possible in four areas: effectiveness of the leadership and management; quality of teaching, learning and assessment; personal development, behaviour and welfare; and outcomes for children.
In its summary, inspector Sharon Hennam-Dale said: “The manager provides inspirational leadership. She leads a highly committed team which shares her vision, determination and passion.
“Staff have an exemplary understanding of how children learn and how to promote children’s progress. They meticulously plan for each child’s individual needs and interests through highly challenging activities.
“The quality of teaching is exceptional. Staff seize every opportunity to enrich children’s early mathematical skills.
“Children use language to talk about size, shape, measure and number as they engage in play.
“Staff are exceptionally skilled at supporting children’s communication and language through purposeful conversations.
“Children who speak English as an additional language quickly start to understand and speak English, making rapid progress from their starting points.”
Manager Lindsey Scott said: “We are ecstatic at the grading which reflects the hard work and dedication of our staff team and committee.
“This would not be possible without the support of our wonderful parents and we are very proud to graded outstanding for the third time in a row.”
