MACCLESFIELD boxer Jake Haigh has decided that it is time to make the switch from amateur to professional and will be trained by former world champion Ricky Hatton.

After over 80 amateur contests competing at international level, Haigh makes the transition after a successful period that saw him become Northwest Regional Junior, Senior Elite Champion, a National Junior Finalist and a National Senior Elite Quarter-Finalist.

He will now follow in the footsteps of previous MBBC boxers Nathan Gorman, Liam Hanarahan and Joe Collins.

Jake took the decision to sign with Hatton Promotions and is feeling very excited over his future. Hatton will be his coach and it is hoped his new manager will be Joe Collins, who has applied for his licence.

Jake was a top class amateur and is expected to do well in the pro ranks, especially with Hatton at the helm, having already taken part in some brilliant sparring with world title contender Sergey Rabchenko, giving him fantastic experience and insight into the professional sport.

It is expected that Haigh will be make his professional debut on October 1 in Stoke-onTrent against a soon to be confirmed opponent, along with stablemate and former MBBC boxer Nathan Gorman.

It promises to be a fantastic night of boxing later this year, and anybody wanting tickets can contact Jake himself or call in at Macclesfield Boys’ Boxing Club for more information.

Jake is also looking for sponsorship on his journey as a professional.

The opportunities for any companies prepared to sponsor and support Jake will be benefitted by immense exposure.

Hatton Promotions has links to Frank Warren’s boxing TV station BoxNation, which is already at the forefront of professional boxing coverage in the UK and across the pond, reaching audiences worldwide, giving companies the immense potential to publicise their brand.
