Farewell for popular head

-

THE headteacher from Hollinhey Primary School was given a send-off by pupils, colleagues and friends on her retirement.

Janet Mott, who lives in Langley, was headteacher for 13 years and is a popular member of the community. She has retired from the school and will be replaced by Sarah Clough as headteacher.

The school marked her retirement with a special assembly and there was a garden party for friends, colleagues and the community.

There was live music and games at the party at the school.

Members of the community attended and parents and pupils from past and present, as well as others who have had links with the school over the years.

Christine Eyre, who is a school governor and former chairman of Sutton Parish Council, attended the assembly and garden party.

She said: “I attended the leavers assembly and it was a wonderful send-off for Janet. She was given some lovely gifts by the children.

“She has been an absolutely splendid headteacher over the 13 years and it’s been a happy and contended school.

“She has been the absolute captain of that ship and we’re sorry to see her go.

“She will be making the most of her free time, she is a great cyclist.

“We will miss her terribly but we accept she has another life and we are looking forward to welcoming Sarah.”
