Clubhouse plans taking shape
PLANS have been submitted to extend and modernise the clubhouse at Langley Cricket Club.
The clubhouse was built in the 70s but the interior has not been brought up to modern standards. Now with more demand from children who want to join the club there are plans to improve it.
The committee has consulted with the community with a questionnaire and needs to raise £10,000 towards to cost of between £50,000 and £60,000 to pay for the project. They will then apply for grant funding for the shortfall.
Matt Stevens, grants officer, said: “As a club we’ve made huge strides over the last five years. We started our junior section two years ago and now have over 50 children signed up to play. The drainage has been sorted and we have a new entrance, club sign, patio area and barbecue installed courtesy of our fund raising efforts, help from sponsors and grant applications. The one area that we urgently need to improve is the inside of the clubhouse. There is no doubt a lot of interest in using our clubhouse and ground and we hope by implementing this project we will give the wider community a fantastic multi purpose facility to be proud of.
“We need to raise a significant amount of money - in fact more money than we’ve ever raised for an individual project. Our club turnover is less than what we are wanting to raise for this project alone. I would ask any companies or individuals who want to get involved and help to please get in touch.”
