Offices to become house
AN application has been made to make alterations to a listed building which is to be turned into a private house.
Originally a 16th Century farmhouse, Tytherington Old Hall on Dorchester Way was listed as Grade II in 1977. In ruins at the time, it then underwent extensive restoration in 1994 by Seddon Estates Ltd, which saw the interior renewed with new timber and concrete block work.
Since restoration, the site has been used as offices, which are now empty.
After gaining permission from the council to convert the building into a four bedroom home, the applicant has now requested to remove all office fittings and make other changes to the property, including adding gas fired central heating and radiators in all rooms and removing a wooden post in the kitchen to re-use it as a beam.
If plans are approved, the external wood door to the kitchen would also be replaced with an aluminium, bi-fold, fully glazed door.
The internal staircase would be modernised and the wooden post in the south wing downstairs room removed and a new bathroom and en-suite would also be added.
In the application to make alterations, the applicant states: “Only very minor external alterations are proposed, the works are mainly internal.” Comments on the application can be made at planning. cheshireeast.gov.uk/ until August 18.
