Cash boost for play area
AN event to help fund a play area’s revamp has been hailed a success.
The project aims to develop the existing recreational area on Glastonbury Drive in Poynton for future generations of young people.
The idea is to install two picnic areas at the south of the site, close to the entrance, plus a walking trail and a range of play equipment including a climbing unit.
There will also be two swing sets, benches and a new pair of goalposts.
A group of parents have been fundraising since the start of the year, aiming to collect the £17,000 needed. In its most recent fundraiser, a fair at the park, the community was able to raise more than £1,200.
Kate Willett, a mum of two and one of the fundraisers, said: “The weather was bad running up the event but we were helped by Bennett landscapes doing drainage work on the play area free of charge.
“We had a great time and members of Glastonbury Drive Play Area Resident Association (GDPARA) are overwhelmed with the support we received in donations.
“On behalf of GDPARA, I would like to thank all our friends and family and volunteers that came along to make it a success. It was epic.”
