Record-breaking school is still top of the class
TYTHERINGTON School is celebrating yet another year of record-breaking A Level results.
Thirty-four percent of all exam entries received A* or A grades, including 13pc at A*.
A record-breaking 64pc of all exam entries were graded A*-B and 88pc A*-C. The pass rate remains at 100pc.
These results are expected to place the school in the top 10pc of all Sixth Forms in England.
Headteacher Manny Botwe said: “I am so proud of the achievements of all our students at Sixth Form.
“Yet again we have achieved record results which should place us in the top 10 percent of Sixth Forms in England.
“We have a very proud comprehensive tradition at our Sixth Form and I’m delighted that we have students going to the top universities, apprenticeships and the world of work.
“The hard work of our students, the commitment of our staff and their sheer enthusiasm for learning has resulted in another year of excellent A-level results for our outstanding Sixth Form.
“I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate all of our young people across the Macclesfield schools on their deserved success; we wish you all the very best for the future.”
The students who achieved A*/As across the board and are now about to embark on university careers include: Alex Fisher; Sam Armitt; Sean Middlehurst; Matthew de Sousa; Rhiannon MelliarSmith; George Williams; Laura Bailey; Amber Birchill; Martha Bird; Emily Christopherson; Emma Carter; Lauren Haley; Conor Day; James Lawrence; Alice Watson; Joseph Pemberton and Peter Griffen.
Emma Henderson, who combined her studies with playing for Stoke City Ladies, also deserves a mention after achieving two distinctions starred and a distinction in her BTEC Extended Diploma in Sport course, and entrepreneur Conor Day, who achieved straight As at A-Level whilst developing an successful internet gaming business.
