THE last Bank Holiday weekend before Christmas is upon us and, as always, our what’s on guide will give you plenty of options for you to get involved with.

Woodford Cricket Club has its annual beer festival from Friday, August 26, to Monday, August 29.

Saturday, August 27 will see a host of local cricket teams in action, so let’s hope it’s not the typical Bank Holiday weather.

In local football, Macclesfield Town will be at home to old rivals Lincoln City, and for the youngsters there is a kiddy cook at Tatton Park in Knutsford.

On Sunday, August 28, the Treacle Market will take place in the centre of Macclesfield, the charity Streetwise is holding a fundraising event at Mash Guru in Macclesfield, the Swan with Two Necks on Chestergate is hosting a fundraising event on behalf of Nicola Murrells, who is trying to raise £150,000 for the Royal Marsden Cancer Charity, and Bollington Health and Leisure will stage its 10k run.

Monday, August 29, sees Prospect Promotions holding an antiques fair at the Wilmslow Leisure Centre, and Little Moreton Hall just outside Congleton will have Tudor Games.

All these events and many more can be viewed on our website www.thethread.org.uk.

The site also has regular ‘restaurant of the month’ and ‘takeaway treat’ competitions.

The August draw will take place on Friday, August 26, with the chance to win a £25 voucher to spend at either the Legh Arms in Adlington or the Windmill Inn in Whiteley Green, breakfast for two at the Rainbow Café in Macclesfield, and a £10 voucher to spend at the Viceroy in Bollington.
