It’s all about 3 points

- SHELDAN KEAY

MACCLESFIELD Town captain Andy Halls insists he doesn’t mind whether his team plays well or not as long as they can pick up the three points.

Macc have managed three league wins so far this season, but suffered a 2-0 loss against Sutton United on Saturday.

Goals from Ross Stearn and Bedsente Gomis condemned John Askey’s side to a defeat at Grander Green Lane.

The Silkmen are known for trying to play attractive football, but Halls is adamant that the main thing is that his side win games.

“Getting points on the board is the only thing that is important at the end of the day, whether it’s a Tuesday night or a Saturday afternoon you want the three points,” he told the club’s official website.

“It doesn’t really matter how you play but obviously if you play well you have a good chance of winning the game and getting three points.

“We like to get the ball down and play especially with the pitches being nice at the start of the season as it’s easier to do that but as long as we set up right and battle through games we’ll do well.”

Halls was praised for his performance during the 3-1 victory over Southport last week, and he was extremely impressed with his team’s efforts in the opening 45 minutes of the match.

“It took the pressure off us getting the early goals. The half of the game was unreal and I thought we were brilliant,” he said.

“In the second half I think we took the gas off the foot a little and got a bit sloppy in possession and they got at us a bit more. They then got the goal at the end but it’s still three points and a win so we’re happy.”
