‘Twisted’ pervert persuaded autistic girl to send sex pics

Care home praised for dementia work

- STUART GREER

A‘TWISTED’ pervert used social media to groom an autistic girl into sexual activity.

Dominic Zammit, 24, from Macclesfield, set up a fake profile in another name and began approaching girls with ‘salacious and sexual comments’, a court heard.

He targeted a ‘suggestible’ teenage girl and persuaded her to perform sexual acts and send photos ammit told the girl he would send round his mate to have sex with her. Then in a ‘disturbing’ act of defiance, when A CARE home has been awarded a special accreditation awarded for its dementia care.

Adlington Manor in Macclesfield took part in a 10 month pilot trialling a new programme developed by dementia care specialists at Barchester Healthcare.

As a result it has implemented significant improvements to the personalised dementia challenged by the girl’s mother, Zammit said: “It’s not my fault you brought up a s**t”.

At Chester Crown Court Zammit, now of Victoria Park, Stockport, admitted two charges of inciting a child to engage in sexual activity, and arranging an act which would involve sexual activity with a child.

Mr Recorder Patrick Thompson slammed Zammit as ‘seedy’ but feared prison would not help him understand his ‘disgusting behaviour’.

Sentencing him to two years suspended for two years, he said: “You had a twisted sexual desire and care services they offer and the way that all staff are trained to better understand what it means to be living with dementia.

Caroline Baker, director of Dementia Care at Barchester said: “Staff at Adlington Manor have worked really hard to achieve accreditation and we saw some lovely examples of how the criteria has been incited a [teenage] girl to commit acts and send pictures of a compromising nature. You sent a series of obscene, disgusting requests to a child.

“This is the behaviour of a seedy individual who gets his sexual kicks from contacting children because he cannot cope with adults.

“The most unpleasant part of your behaviour, and testament to your implemented in their Memory Lane Community and throughout the whole home.

“Congratulations to all the staff – it was a pleasure to visit you and to meet some of the amazing people living at the home.”

Fiona Gough, general manager at Adlington Manor, said: “We are very proud to have been one of character, is when the mother contacted you asking you to stop, which was incredibly brave, you called her daughter a s**t.”

The court heard that Zammit was eventually caught when he started contacting another girl, who reported him.

Police traced Zammit to Malta and he was arrested when he flew back into the country.

The court heard that Zammit ‘lied’, claiming he had lost his laptop, had his phone stolen and another man was trying to set him up.

Philip Clemo, defending said Zammit was immature and suffered the first Barchester homes to achieve the 10-60-6 dementia care accreditation.

“This improved approach to dementia care has made a big difference to the lives of those we care for. Staff have been especially delighted with the 10-60-6 training programme, which has helped them to deliver better personcentred care.” from low self-esteem, adding: “While terrible offences, there is a big difference in someone ‘talking a good game’ and acting on it.

Zammit, who is now engaged to be married, was also sentenced to a two year community order with supervision and sex offenders programme.

He will also have a Sexual Harm Prevention Order for 10 years banning him from contact with children. .
