All to play for in final three games

- CRICKET BILL LIVESLEY

THE clash between the two teams battling for the last relegation place was blighted by rain but a match was played.

Prestbury captain Ben Oakes won the toss and batted.

Openers Adam Philips and Tim Braender got a slow but solid start and Tim went for 19, soon followed by Aqeel Ahmed for five.

Adam Philips made a good 20, which at 39 for three meant Cheadle Ladybridge were in control – but Ben Milner and Chris Hall pushed to eight an over and soon put on 68 runs before Chris hall was caught.

Prestbury batting fell away from there. Ben Oakes, 0, Sam Gilding, four, Maif, 0, Archie Thorneycroft, one, – but Max Cowley Jones, 16, and Ben Milner, 39, did get the score to 143 all out.

Cheadle had a terrible start, chasing 144 of only 22 overs due to rain. Tim Braender took a wicket in his first over and Maff Miah also took an early wicket leaving Cheadle 0 for 2.

Then a superb run out by Archie Thorneycroft meant Cheadle were four for three, and soon 8 for 4 as Tim got his second wicket. A final total of 36 for 4 meant a draw. Not what either side wanted but played in a good spirit in difficult conditions. So, three games left and all to play for. ● KERRIDGE welcomed visitors Styal on Saturday and in a good game were beaten by 46 runs,

Kerridge won the toss and bowled first on a decent wicket and made an early breakthrough before a brief rain interval when Carl Ryder(1/26) bowled Fernando for five. A steady partnership ensued between Johnson and Middleton before Adam Banks (2/45 off 15ovs) bowled Middleton for 21. Alex Grimes(2/61 off 15 ovs) had Jackson stumped for six and Banks removed Shields for three.

Grimes struck again to remove Soni for 2 to leave Styal on 88/5.

Styal completed their overs on 188/8.

In reply Kerridge’s Ste Regan hit 33, Luke Wild 27, Januszewski, 18, Ryder, 17, and Phil Ravenscroft, 15 – the run-makers against a good bowling attack of Ahmed (5/44), Kerridge falling to 142ao.

Kerridge probably fancied the win with 11 men but with two men short made for a hard day and a lot less batting in reply.

Kerridge stay at second but, with no game next week, have it all to do in their last two games.
