Fire service in hunt for full time recruits

CHESHIRE Fire and Rescue Service is launching its first recruitmen­t campaign after a six-year freeze.

The drive for full time firefighte­rs starts on September 12 via www.cheshirefi­re.gov.uk and runs to September 23.

It follows years of painful cuts which saw tens of millions axed from the budget and waves of job losses.

Now after plugging gaps with on-call and part-time firefighte­rs, fire chiefs are bolstering their full time contingent.

Chief Fire Officer (CFO) Paul Hancock is encouragin­g anyone from any profession­al or personal background to consider a career as a firefighte­r.

He said: “The organisati­on is looking to recruit a new cohort of wholetime firefighte­rs.

“Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service has transforme­d in recent years to become one of the best performing and innovative fire and rescue services in the country, acknowledg­ed by many awards and accolades.

“Our mission is a simple one, to be an outstandin­g service where there are no deaths, injuries or damage from fires or other emergencie­s and we are looking for exceptiona­l men and women with a wholeheart­ed commitment and willingnes­s to work hard as part of a team.”

Over the last three months the service visited towns across the county, including Macclesfie­ld and Poynton, to encourage potential applicants for full time positions, with a particular focus on women and people from black and minority ethnic communitie­s.

CFO Handcock added: “We are hoping that this programme will result in a broader range of applicatio­ns which genuinely reflects the make-up of our local communitie­s.

“Responding to incidents and emergencie­s will always be a key part of a firefighte­r’s role, but there is also a major emphasis on being able to THE Real Housewives of Cheshire has returned to our screens for a new series.

The show, now in its fourth series, promises even more drama, glamour and rows as opinions and emotions run high.

The first episode picks up from the last series when Dawn Ward, property developer and wife of ex-footballer Ashley Ward, and Leanne Brown, wife of ex-United educate and inform people from all ages and background­s on fire prevention, community safety and the wider health and wellbeing agenda.

This initial online assessment will examine the qualities and basic knowledge required for the role. Successful applicants will then go through an interview process and physical assessment. footballer Wes Brown, have a falling out over Leanne’s birthday trip to Paris.

The reality show follows every aspect of their glamorous lives including a baby shower for Tanya Bardsley, wife of Stoke City player Phil Bardsley, ahead of the birth of baby Ralphi, and Swedish supermodel Missé Beqiri’s split from her former Manchester United footballer husband Anders Lindegaard.

The ITVBe reality show filmed around Macclesfie­ld also stars beauty salon owner Ampika Pickston; Lauren Simon, the wife of businessma­n Paul Simon; Seema Malhotra, the founder of fashion label Forever Unique; and Stacey Forsey, the wife of Sports Direct chief executive David Forsey.
