Where there’s a will there’s a way
NOBODY can predict the future and any unexpected twists and turns on life’s journey.
That is why making a will is so important, regardless of age or health, so that prized possessions are distributed according to our wishes once we are gone.
East Cheshire Hospice is holding its annual Will Week from October 3 to October 10 when local solicitors will write a new will, or update an existing will, for free in exchange for a donation to the hospice.
A list of solicitors who have waived their fees in return for a hospice donation is available at the hospice website.
Simply call a solicitor to make an appointment during Will Week when they will discuss your situation and preferences and draft a will accordingly.
Donations are made in an envelope, with all monies given directly to the hospice by the solicitor.
Last year the average donation was £85.
Karyn Johnston, income generation director at East Cheshire Hospice, said: “Every day we see the devastating impact on families whose loved one has not left a will and at a very stressful time the last thing they need is to try to second guess what a loved one wanted.
“Getting your will sorted during Will Week gives you a peace of mind, supports your family after you have gone and, most importantly, you give the gift of care to someone who is facing the end in the next few weeks.”
The hospice say there is no obligation to leave a gift to the hospice in a will but solicitors can help with any such requests.
These Gifts in Wills, known as legacies, are a vital source of funding for the hospice, providing care for one in three patients.
