Club celebrates a decade

-

A NOT-FOR-PROFIT music club is celebrating its 10th birthday.

The Bluefunk Rhythm and Blues Club hosts musicians from all over the world at its venue at Poynton British Legion Club.

In recognition of the milestone, Bluefunk is having a celebration from September 15-18.

There will be two artists-in-residence – Jim Kirkpatrick, guitarist with FM, the Bernie Marsden Band and Heavy Weather – and Jon Amor of The Hoax, The Boom band, Amor and Fisk, and Jon Amor Band.

Other headliners are The Stevie Nimmo Trio, George Borowski and the Fabulous Wonderfuls, and the late Rory Gallagher’s final band, Richard Newman and David Levy, who will be fronted by Jim Kirkpatrick.

Garry White, from Bluefunk, said: “Bluefunk was set up on a not for profit basis to serve its community by bringing world class live music to an area not exactly rich in such things.

“Little did we realise it would forge an enviable international reputation in the world of roots music.

“It has been a joyful journey for all the people that have been instrumental in its success, none less than the fantastic Bluefunksters who have loyally supported it, some of whom were there right at the very beginning and have managed to survive the whole ten years with us.”
