Chairman says thanks to fans over fund
MACCLESFIELD Town chairman Mark Blower has thanked all of the supporters who contributed to the Silkmen Campaign Fund.
The fund came to an end last week, with nearly £50,000 raised by fans over the course of the summer.
Macc were able to sign the likes of Kingsley James, Ollie Norburn and Mitch Hancox thanks to the fund – and Blower gave high praise to the fans.
“We have made a solid start to the season and it is pleasing to see the squad playing so well, and the monies raised from the Campaign Fund have been a key feature of this,” he told the club’s official website.
Any fans who have contributed to the fund will receive double their original pledge back if Macclesfield gain promotion to the Football League this season.
Meanwhile, the football club have also offered their support to a campaign that aims to see Tom Jackson recognised with a Pride of Britain award.
Friends of Congletonbased Tom Jackson are trying to get in his memory a Pride of Britain Award awarded in recognition of his outstanding bravery in Australia last week.
Tom lost his life after stepping in to protect a fellow back packer in a reckless attack and will continue to save lives after his family decided to donate his organs to those in need.
Tom was an avid football supporter so the Silkmen are asking for help to support them in obtaining the award. More information can be found on the club’s website.
