Pub in double award coup
STAFF of a pub are celebrating after scooping two awards.
The Park Tavern in Macclesfield has been announced as Cider Pub of the Year and Community Pub of the Year by the Macclesfield and East Cheshire branch of CAMRA – the Campaign for Real Ale.
The Park Lane-based pub became part of the Bollington Brewing Co in 2011, and under the management of Tim Jones and Rebecca Prunty since 2013, it has become a magnet for locals and visitors.
The first CAMRA award recognised the pub’s commitment to serving high quality cider, including locally produced favourite Maxonian Mist by SiDa.
The second award celebrated The Park Tavern’s dedication to creating a friendly and welcoming family environment with regular charity events and collections, free space for local groups, exhibition space for local artists, a free boutique cinema, free monthly science lectures and fortnightly philosophy discussion groups.
The pub also hosts regular business networking events and supports local social enterprises.
Rebecca Prunty from The Park said: “We’re thrilled to have received two awards from CAMRA, particularly as these categories are close to our heart. We’re really passionate about being a pub that genuinely sits at the heart of our local community, working for it not against it.”
